Hi There

I'm Grace Strickland de Souza. Also known as Souza Ceramics, GracieSouz and the lead singer of Indie Pop band KIN. I'm sometimes known as Doris' (cat) mum, and twin one.

Thanks for stopping by my world.

So, you want to know more about me?

Having studied a BA in Drama Studies at Bath Spa University, followed by an MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths, my career started out in theatre and performance. I began directing and then co-founded my own theatre collective, Klein Blue, creating visual, interdisciplinary work and collaborating on shows such as Are There Female Gorillas? (Brighton Fringe, Camden People's Theatre) and Alice (Vaults Festival).

I started playing around with sticky stuff that comes out of the ground (clay) in December 2022, when I decided to make a wonky animal out of air dry clay to gift each member of my family for Christmas. Since then, I have created work inspired by my love of wonky relics in museums, avant-garde art movements and travels around the world. I'm always looking for a slightly comical face or bizarre artist perspective to shape my ideas! Everything looks better with a lopsided face in my opinion, and bold colour palettes inspired by my Indian Heritage, as well as geometric pattern are at the forefront of Souza Ceramics, my tiny batch homeware and jewellery brand. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted, unique in personality and as sustainable as possible. Working at Sustainable Makers means that all my leftover clay is reclaimed and glaze is recycled.

Music has been a constant for me, and I create cinematic and experimental electro-pop under the guise, GracieSouz. My debut EP, Better In Space, was released in 2021 and gained support from BBC 6 Music. I formed my band, KIN, in 2018 and together we create alternative indie pop. We've had fun playing Tramlines Festival, sold-out shows in London, gaining over 445k streams on Spotify and recording sessions at Abbey Road and Studio 13.
