LFWM SS19

Kicking off the new blog with a post about what I did last weekend. London Fashion Week Men's Collections was in town and with it lots of male models, events and parties to celebrate all things men's fashion!

It's safe to say I had the most amazing time and that smile was on my face all weekend! I've been lucky enough to attend London Fashion Week a few times now and each time it is still just as fun and a nice escape from reality. Is it as glamorous as it seems in the papers? Probably not, but there is an amazing energy at the events and it is a great chance to drink lots of free alcohol (which in my opinion is the best kind!) and be extravagant and daring with what to wear.

Day 1 - Topman SS19 Summer Party at The Phoenix Art Club

Its cool
Body - American Apparel, Trousers - Topshop, Boots - Jeffrey Campbell, Jacket - Calvin Klein

I started my weekend in a big way by attending the Topman SS19 party which was held at The Phoenix Arts Club. The event invitation said it was a celebration of the summer and with Topman focusing on the Hawaiian style shirt this season, I thought it would be most fitting to wear something colourful.

As the party was hosted by Topman, I thought it would be good to support the brand by wearing something by the sister company, Topshop. I decided on my favourite 100% leather, red trousers. I got these for an absolute steal in the sale last season and they are just amazing! Apparently there is a tiny hole from a security tag (I can't find it!) in them so I paid £20 instead of £150... They are the perfect item to make an outfit immediately cool.

Obviously the leather from the trousers made me really warm, so I counter-balanced the look with a bit of skin by wearing a black halter neck body by American Apparel. This really is a must have piece for any wardrobe. I've lost count of the amount of times I've worn it! It instantly flatters any outfit and the open back makes it super sexy.

I can honestly say I haven't worn heels for many, many months now, maybe even a year. These are left over from my university days. Anyone who knew me back then would know I was the platform heel QUEEN, always striding around campus in ridiculous boots! These "Tardy" boots by Jeffrey Campbell were one of my favourite pairs and I didn't have the heart to sell them to a new home when I stopped wearing them. They have been waiting, silently, for a moment like this... and they had a fabulous comeback! The platform makes them amazingly comfy and the yellow pony skin and heart detail is to die for too.

Overall, the party was a lot of fun. Waiters dressed in Hawaiian shirts carried round trays of free burgers and fries with bar tenders serving free cocktails and spirits throughout the night. Neon signs added to the downtown LA vibe with help from a performance from Jimothy Lacoste (Who is this guy? Why is his hair like that?) and a DJ spinning 80s and 90s hits long into the night.

Day 2 - Vogue Hommes X GarconJon: 10 Years of Streetstyle Exhibition

Dress - & Other Stories, Belt - Mango, Jacket - Calvin Klein, Shoes - Stella McCartney

Day 2 saw a hungover me (after drinking too many free Negronis!) making my way to a gallery space in Covent Garden to be inspired by the amazing work of GarconJon, award winning photographer and all round cool guy. Obviously my tired body wanted to wear something more casual and effortless but still look sophisticated and fashion forward.

The dress is by & Other Stories (nice alternative here!) and is perfect for any occasion, particularly one like this. The flowing shape means it's really easy to wear but the cut out front and sides along with the velvet texture give it more of a dressy edge. I teamed it with a braided leather belt by Mango to show off my silhouette a bit more.

To finish off the look I wore these amazing silver "Odette" brogues by Stella McCartney The fact I own these shoes makes me want to pinch myself. Two words; T.K.Maxx. OK, so more like two letters and a word! The rubber sole is what really makes them unique and the silver finish is a perfect way to add excitement to any outfit. Team everything with a classic red lipstick by Rimmel (Shade 111) and you have yourself an amazing look.

The exhibition featured a DJ and more free alcohol (beer this time) and was an amazing representation of fashion on the streets of London and I really enjoyed the candid pictures. Big shout out to the man himself, Jonathan Daniel Pryce, who replied to my Instagram comment to say thank you for coming. Also, a massive, massive thank you to my best person, FreddieMade, for allowing me to be his party buddy all weekend.
